James William Warner


James "Jim" William Warner, 83, of Enon passed away Friday, November 14, 2008. He was born August 23, 1925 in Irvine, Kentucky to William S. and Mattie D. (Hamilton) Warner.

Jim retired from Wright-Patterson AFB in 1983 after 35 years of service and was a member of Enon United Methodist Church, Enon Community Historical Society, U.S. L.S.T. Association, St. Andrews Masonic Lodge #619. He was a proud World War II veteran serving in the Navy aboard L.S.T. 372. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.

Jim is survived by his wife Nadine L. (Kinney), whom he married June 10, 1945, son John W. Warner of Enon, daughter Nancy L. Zirkle of Springfield, brother Ernest N. Warner of Rhode Island, sister Linda L. Johnson of Kentucky, sister-in-law Doris L. Warner of Huber Heights, grandchildren James A. and Concetta Warner, Kevin R. Warner, Jeffrey L. Zirkle (Lori Beasley), Scott W. Zirkle, Joshua T. Carter, Bradley J. Carter, Justin K. Warner, Brandon L. Warner, great granddaughters Kaitlyn T. Warner, Kristaluna A. Warner, stepsister Ethamay and Claude Smith, stepbrother Harold and Georgia Hayslett, and numerous relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, stepfather Mike Hayslett, stepmother Sadie Warner, son Gary L. Warner, son-in-law Daniel L. Zirkle, brother John "Jack" C. Warner, sister-in-law Barbara Warner, and stepbrother Roy Hayslett.

Family and friends may visit 4:00-7:00 pm Tuesday in Adkins Funeral Home, Enon. Masonic rites will be conducted following visitation. Funeral service, preceded by one hour visitation, will be conducted at 10:00 am Wednesday in the Enon United Methodist Church, 85 Broadway Road, Enon with Pastor Jeff Mohr officiating. Entombment will follow the service in Rose Hill Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jim's name to the Enon United Methodist Church or Honor Flight.
