Helen Frances (Chapman Swaney) Williams
Helen Frances (Chapman Swaney) Williams went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 15, 2007.
Helen was born on August 29, 1913 to Jessie and Josephine (Little) Chapman and lived in the Springfield and surrounding areas the entire 94 years of life.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Delbert Swaney, son, Fred Swaney, and grandson, David H. Allen.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 34 years, Charles L. Williams; loving sister, Rachel Grove Shipton; children and step-children, Glen (Karen) Swaney, Roger (Jeanne) Swaney, Joe (Pamela) Swaney, Emza (Clarence) Billett, Joyce Swaney Northup, Kenny (Sandy) Williams, Sue (Frank) Felty, David (Shirley) Williams, Charles Jr.(Leah) Williams, and Nancy (Randy) Clouse; grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Steven Walker Billett, Rita Frances Walker Jacobsmeyer, Debra (Allen) Rivas, Darla (Allen) Self, Diana Allen, Dolly Marie Swaney, Susan Swaney, Ashley Swaney, Ronnie Swaney, Tony Swaney, Lois Swaney, Mary Ann Swaney, Sally Billett McComb, Sheila Billett McNabb, Tanya Tyrell, Roger Dale Swaney, Joshua Swaney, Jeremy Swaney, Jennifer Dear, Todd Swaney, Kimberly Swaney Rausch, Michelle Maloney, Erica Williams, Nova, David, and Emma Williams, Dale Jr. Massie, Heather Williams, Carol Jean, Nichole, Wayne, and Dawn Felty, and Cinnamon and James Dalhberg; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Helen was a member of Fletcher Chapel Methodist and Lisbon Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school and enjoyed playing the piano and organ at both churches for over 50 years. Helen is currently a member of the First Assembly of God. She was a lay speaker at many Christian church functions, and was a guest speaker for numerous Christian services. She was an eloquent speaker and speech writer. Helen was a long time member of the Women's Christian Society, and was involved in Elderly United delivering "Meals on Wheels" in the area for over 20 years, and volunteered for many charities in the area. She worked for The Town and Country Day School for numerous years. Helen and Charles were members of the Cardinal Dance Club for 10 years and loved to dance and travel.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2007 from 2-5 PM at the JACKSON LYTLE WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME - SPRINGFIELD with the funeral service on Monday, November 19, 2007 at 11 AM at the First Assembly of God, Springfield. Interment to follow services at Grape Grove Cemetery.
