Bertha M. Walton
Bertha M. Baker-Walton, 86 of Springfield, Ohio was called home to be with the Lord January 12, 2009. She was born February 1, 1922 in Sparta, Georgia a daughter of the late Rev. Frank and Bertha Baker.
Mrs. Walton received a B.A. degree in English from Wilberforce University and a B.A. degree in Special Education from the Ohio State University and a Masters degree from the University of Dayton. She taught in the Springfield City School System were she retired after many years of service. Bertha was a faithful member of Second Missionary Baptist Church and was First Lady and served on a number of boards and committees in the church.
Mrs. Walton leaves to cherish her memory her only son; Kurtz A. (Renee) Walton of Cincinnati, Ohio, brother; Delano Copeland, sister; Mary Copeland both of New Jersey, two granddaughters; Marissa Parks and Micheala Owens, grandson; Matthew Thompson, 9 great grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Rev. Charles W. Walton, daughter; Dana Michelle Owens and three siblings.
Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m.-12 noon in the Second Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow in the church at 12 noon. Arrangements provided by the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home.
