Arthur L. West


Arthur L. (Leroy) West, age 81, passed peacefully Saturday, December 13, 2008 at the Community Hospital.

He was a resident of Springfield a majority of his life where he met his wife, of 52 years, Christina E. West.

Arthur was a veteran of the United States Army. For a number of years Arthur was a machinist who owned his own shop, Arts Industrial Grinding, in California where he manufactured parts for NASA; he later retired from Kelsey Hayes. He also attended the Word of Faith Church for many years.

He is preceded in death by his wife Christina (2004), his parents, brothers; Cecil Garvey, Leon and Earl West, sister; Ivanell West,daughter-in-law Patsy West. Arthur is survived by his three sons; Arthur D. West Jr., Bruce M.(Winnie)West, and Chris (Diana) West, grandchildren; Brandy (Eric) Wildman, Timothy (Amanda) West, Brett (Stephanie) West, and Jessica (Jason) Chaney, Cody and Shianne, Makayla and Mariah, and Nicholas, six great-grandchildren, and one on the way, brothers; Bob and Larry Garvey, sisters; Jean Swisher, Nancy Smith, and Ruby Longwell, a host of family and friends.

Family to receive friends Monday, December 15, 2008 from 5 to 8pm at the JACKSON LYTLE WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME 2425 N. Limestone St. and then after 10AM Tuesday; where funeral service will be held 11AM Tuesday, with grandson Pastor Timothy West officiating. Burial will follow in the Vernon Asbury Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Forest Glenn Memory Care.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be given in Arthur's memory to the Leukemia Society or the Dayton Children's Hospital.
