Doris M. Van Bourgondien


Doris M. Van Bourgondien, 78, of Springfield, died unexpectedly Monday evening, January 19, 2009 in her residence.

She was born on February 9, 1930 in Hempstead, New York the daughter of Richard and Madeline (Cordes) Klimpel.

Doris was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church where she active on many committees.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Casper H. "Dutch" Van Bourgondien; six children and spouses, Casper "Skip" and Nancy Van Bourgondien of New York City, Robert K. Van Bourgondien of Reynoldsburg, Susan and Marc Swartz of Haymarket, Virginia, Karen and Richard Levin of Franklin, Michigan, Brett and Brandi Van Bourgondien of Dublin, and Richie and Veronica Van Bourgondien of Springfield; fourteen grandchildren, Max Van Bourgondien, Brandon Van Bourgondien, Matthew and Kristen Swartz, Sam, Katie and Joey Levin, Brett Jr., Sarah, Makena, and Kai Van Bourgondien, and Anna, Ava and Andrew Van Bourgondien; and one great grandson, Kalen Van Bourgondien.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Kenneth and Richard Klimpel, and a grandson, Alexander Van Bourgondien.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.

Doris' funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastors Daniel M. Powell and Beverly DeBord officiating.

Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.
