Ronald C. Underwood


Ronald C. Underwood, 66, went to be with our Lord on November 7, 2008 following several months of illness. He was born in Harriman, Tennessee on February 15, 1942, the son of Ruth and Clarence Underwood.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and four brothers.

At the time of his death Ron had worked for Remington Steel as the warehouse superintendent for 23 years. His fifth child and one of his greatest enjoyments was his car "old yeller".

He leaves his wife of 44 years Judith (Arnold) Underwood, sons Kenneth (Kathy), Donald (Tammy), and Jeffry (Tracy) all of Springfield, David (Heather) of Urbana; eight grandchildren Jessica, Cody, Chelcie, Shane, Dannielle, Spencer, Paige and Parker; and a great granddaughter due on February 15, 2009. Ron leaves three brothers David (Debby), Danny (Mona), and Doug; three sisters Lavenia, Donna (Ether), and Janice (Randy) all of Tennessee; brother in law Kenneth (Kim) Arnold, Lori (Ric) Compton; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A special thanks to Hook's Oxygen for all they supplied and did for us and to Dr. Sing, Dr. Viktor , Dr. Umerani, and Dr. Wase for all their care as well as the staff at the Springfield Regional Cancer Center and Community-Mercy Hospice. Also thanks to the Remington Steel workers and Roy Kohl. Special friends Wayne Blanton and Richard Pearce for all their love and support.

Family and friends may call Sunday from 5-8 PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. A celebration of Ron's life will be Monday, November 10, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the memorial home. Burial to follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
