Van Lee Thrasher


Van Lee Thrasher, 87 departed this life May 16, 2008 in St. John Center.

Mr. Thrasher was born November 7, 1920 in Thomaston, Georgia a son of Zena Mae Thrasher Dozier and Van Lee Thrasher Sr.

He had been employed by the Kissel Company and Vernay Laboratories. Mr. Thrasher was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working with wood, making model houses and churches.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 49 years; Eddie Buford Thrasher, daughter; Rosemary Kidd both of Springfield, sister; Carrie Byrd of Berkley, California, brothers; Charles Dozier and Donald (Florence) Dozier both of Springfield, grandchildren; Odis (Patricia) Kidd, Leon (Regina) Thrasher Jr. and Carla Powers-Karg, step-son; Terrence Ellison, devoted cousin; Margaret Watson, special friends; J.D. and Debber Brandon, Terrell and Eloise Cortner and Carey Applin and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Thrasher was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather; Lester Dozier, sister; Somae Thrasher-Mahoney, brothers; John Alfred Thrasher and Ronald Dozier, son; Leon Van Thrasher and grandson; Byron Kidd.

Visitation for Mr. Thrasher will be Saturday, May 24, 2008 from 9:30-10.00 a.m. in the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Arrangements provided by the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home.
