Stanley Howard Thompson
Stanley Howard Thompson, 79, of South Vienna passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009 in Heartland of Springfield. He was born October 5, 1929 in Highland County, Ohio the son of Stanley and Leora (Hamilton) Thompson and was reared by his mother and stepfather Charles Swearingen.
Mr. Thompson was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, served in the United States Army during the Korean War and had been a Springfield area resident since 1962. Stanley was a self-employed Master Carpenter, building and re-modeling homes until he retired at age seventy-five.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years Shirley (Shirk) Thompson of South Vienna; two sons and a daughter-in-law Craig and Joanne Thompson of Enon and Jacob Allen Thompson of South Vienna; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Peggy Stagers and a grandson Nickolas Thompson.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM. in the Memorial Home with Pastor Dave Hill officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
