Melvina M. Toner


Melvina M. Toner, 73, of Springfield died unexpectedly Thursday morning, January 22, 2009 in her residence.

She was born February 15, 1935 in Tremont City, Ohio, the daughter of Roy and Elizabeth (McKinney) Peterson.

Melvina was a retired nurse's aide.

Survivors include seven daughters, Kathy Woods of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Judy Christian, Karen (John) Mowell, all of Springfield, Linda (Eddie) Chambliss of Xenia, JoAnn (Tim) Ferguson, Sandy (James) Dawes, Beth (Shawn) Sprinkle, all of Springfield; two sons, Robby (Lee) Toner of Princeton, Texas, Rusty (Teresa) Toner of Springfield; very special child, Terry (Shiela) Toner of New Carlisle; four sisters, Norma (John) King, Betty Knief, all of Urbana, Delores Reynolds of Springboro, Darlene Vanover of Jamestown; brother, Roy (Shirley) Peterson of Delaware; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and dear friend, Kim Sowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Toner; two daughters, Bonnie and Connie Toner; two sons, Charles Toner, Jr. and Roy Toner; sister, Mary Huffman; and granddaughter, Jamie Smith. Mom, you were loved and you will be missed.

A gathering of family and friends will be held in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME Sunday from 1-4 p.m.

Melvina's funeral service will be held in the funeral home Monday, January 26, 2009 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Bill Blain of High Street Nazarene Church officiating.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia, Ohio.
