William J. Stegers


William J. Stegers, 85, of Springfield, died at 5:37 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2008 in Villa Springfield. He was born in Bendorf, Germany on September 28, 1922 the son of Johann Josef and Katharina (Opper) Stegers.

He worked as a machinist for many years at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a member of the VFW and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred M. (Kruft); daughter, Sherry DiBagno of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Sofia Doyle of Springfield; two granddaughters, Stephanie Phelps and Jennifer Lindemon; three great grandchildren, Lucas Phelps, Penelope Phelps and Evan Lindemon and many nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Arrangements handled by CONROY FUNERAL HOME.
