William L. Speaks
William L. "Bill" Speaks, 81, of Springfield, died at 4:45 p.m. Sunday December 21, 2008 in Select Specialty Hospital, Columbus, OH. He was born April 28, 1927 in Springfield, OH to Bradford and Leota (Blackburn) Speaks.
Bill retired in 1989 from the material control department of General Motors after 22 years of service. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, where he was a 50 year member of the choir, member of K of C. #624 and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW 2.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Gloria A. (Robinson); a daughter, Natalie Hinton, Columbus, OH; 3 grandchildren, Michelle, Andrew and Kyle Hinton; 2 great grandchildren, Ciera and Brandon; brother in law, Joseph (Joyce) Robinson; sisters in law, Lorna (Edward) Washington and Pennee Frelot; a cousin, Martha J. Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Jayden Payne, 6 brothers and a sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in St. Bernard Church with visitation 1½ hours prior in the Conroy Funeral Home, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Bernard Church.
