Wilbur M. Smith


Wilbur M. "Sonny" Smith, barbering for 50 years in this city, went home to be with the Lord on Monday evening, July 14, 2008.

He was born to Wilbur M. and Anise (Carson) Smith on October 19, 1932.

Sonny leaves to mourn his passing two sons; Jeffrey L. Smith and Michael Smith both of Los Angeles, California, two sisters; Patricia Fields and Dorothy (William) Campbell and brother; Joseph (Ohpal) Smith all of Cleveland,Ohio, sister; Beatrice (Madell "Oats") Warfield and brother; Charles "Mike" Smith both of Springfield, Ohio. Mr. Smith attended schools in Springfield and was a disabled Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister; Rosemary and brother; Bernard. Also surviving are several grandchildren; Conan, Mark, Dominic and Kanshaya, and several great grandchildren, special friends; Rick Anway and Gary Wilson and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Smith was known for his friendly and helpful ways to family, neighbors and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 18, 2008 from 9-10 a.m. in the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Kenneth Applin, pastor of the Catherine Street Church of God officiating. Burial will be on Soldiers Mound, Ferncliff Cemetery. Arrangements are provided by the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home.
