William F. Schwenn


William F. Schwenn, 73, of Springfield, died at 2:05 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2009 in Mission, Texas following a lengthy illness. He was born in Davenport, Iowa on May 20, 1935, a son of Fred H. and Myra Wilhelmina (Dank) Schwenn. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. Until his illness he was the owner of The Maintenance Man, prior to that he retired from C.E. Bauer Labs on Baker Road. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and boating and in later years was a master woodworker, making many furniture items for his home.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elise (Grossman); two daughters, Karen (Roger) Collins of Springfield, Janet Mann of Enon, one son William A. "Charlie" (Kelly) Schwenn of Urbana; nine grandchildren, Rob Collins of Columbus, Jennifer (Mark) Reynolds of Springfield, Alexandra, Madison, Jordan Mann of Enon, Amber Schwenn of Springfield, Karley, Tyler and Taylor Schwenn of Urbana; two brothers Stanley Schwenn of Davenport and Leroy (Margaret) Schwenn of Le Claire, Iowa, one sister Sharon Robinson of Chester, Va., one half-brother Art (Care) Hasten of Davenport, Iowa, several nieces and nephews and one special cousin, Marvin (Marjorie) Reimers of Maysville, Iowa and many close friends in Springfield, Davenport, Iowa and Mission, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-granddaughter, Michaela Sprinkle.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Frank Kample officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Township #1 Fire and Paramedics, 2777 Springfield-Xenia Road, Springfield, Ohio.
