Silvia (Medina) Saldivar


Silvia (Medina) Saldivar, 66, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at The Ohio State University Medical Center.

She was born on October 31, 1940 in Mexico City, Mexico the daughter of Luis and Consuelo (Reyes) Medina. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of forty-two years, Victor Saldivar of Springfield, her mother, Consuelo of Bettendorf, Iowa, two daughters and a son-in-law: Susana Gonzalez of Springfield, and Julie and Todd Penrose of Springfield; three sons and two daughters-in-law: Thomas Saldivar of Springfield, David and Jennifer Saldivar of Oswego, Illinois; and Scotty and Bobbi Saldivar of Milford, Ohio; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Elvia and Juventino Gutierrez of East Moline, Illinois; Consuelo and Agustin Gutierrez of Bettendorf, Iowa; Margo and Bill Roder of Waterloo, Iowa; and Teresa and Dave McClure of Kansas City, Kansas; four brothers and three sisters-in-law: Joe and Laura Medina of Dallas, Texas; Francisco and Tina Medina of Davenport, Iowa; Marco and Shelby Medina of Waterloo, Iowa; and Jamie Medina of Cedar Falls, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren whom she adored: Silvia, Emilia, Jordan, Porfirio, Sydney, Rebecca, Victoria, Casey, Raquel, Victor C., Jessica, Jenna, and Joe; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, October 26, 2007 from 5-8 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am in the St. Raphael Catholic Church. A luncheon will be held immediately following the Mass.

Silvia will be missed by her family and friends. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed them as much as they enjoyed her. Little Silvia (her namesake) was such a joy to her and Victor Christopher gave her an extra spark in life, yet she loved all thirteen with her whole heart.

The Saldivar Family would like to express their appreciation for the care and concern they have received from many friends and family in the past two months for Silvia.
