Robert L. Stevenson


Robert L. Stevenson, 91, of Springfield, passed away at 2:40 PM Tuesday, October 7, 2008 in Eaglewood Care Center.

He was born November 2, 1916 in Woodburn, Indiana, the son of Walter Guy and Ruby Rachel (DeLong) Stevenson. Mr. Stevenson was a member of the Tremont City United Methodist Church and the American Legion. He was a Veteran of the United States Army Air Force during World War II. Mr. Stevenson retired form International Harvester following over 30 years of services.

Survivors include five children; Linda (Martin) Sacher, Trotwood, Ohio, Paul Stevenson, Los Angeles, California, Marilyn (Tony) Stevens, Karen (Asa) Rust, Springfield and Lori (Robert) Carnes, Bellefontaine, ten grand children; Scott, Kim, Robin, Toby, Christopher, Katilyn, Chad (Melinda) Nicole ( Steve), Tiffany ( Christopher) and Zachary, one great grandson; Danny and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Stevenson whom he married December 31, 1942, one sister Dorothy Hobeck, five brothers; Arthur, Henry, Frank, Edgar and Walter Stevenson an his parents.

Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
