Ruth R. Trostel-Smith


Ruth R. Trostel-Smith, age 83, formerly of New Carlisle, Ohio died Saturday, June 21, 2008. She was the daughter of Howard T. and Lueella A. (Grothjan) Randolph.

Ruth was a member of the Honey Creek Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, Past Matron Order of Eastern Star New Carlisle chapter #423 and Past Deputy Grand Matron district #18. Ruth and her first husband G. William (Bill) Trostel, who died in 1981, were the owners and operators of the former Trostel Funeral Home.

She was also preceded in death by her second husband, Kenneth R. Smith in 2002, and her sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Gene Krueger.

Ruth is survived by two sons, William R. (Randy) Trostel and wife Vicky and Michael G. (Mike) Trostel; two step children, Jeff Smith and Holly (Kevin) Watson; grandchildren, Scott (Katie) Trostel, Angela Trostel and fiancée Tim Mahl, Jason Trostel; step grandchildren, Grayden and Broderick Watson; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Isabella Trostel; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Marge and Don Slanker, Georgia and Jack Walls, Betty Foster, Cora Yarger and Pat Smith; niece, Vicki Hardin; nephews, Jim (Jane) Slanker, Rick (June) Slanker.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, 507 West Washington St. New Carlisle, Beverly Quinn presiding. Friends may wish to call on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420 or charity of choice in Ruth's memory. Private burial with the family will follow.

A private burial will be in Fletcher Chapel Cemetery.
