Raymond H. Schwartz


Raymond H. "Bud" Schwartz, Jr., 71, of Springfield, died peacefully with his family at his side at 9:30 a.m. Saturday February 21, 2009 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born October 27, 1937 in Springfield, OH to Raymond H. and Johanna (Duffy) Schwartz, Sr.

For 35 years, he worked as a skilled and conscientious kitchen remodeler; he owned and operated Bud Schwartz and Company/Mid-American Kitchens for 25 years and also worked for Sears Home Improvement for a number of years.

Bud was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, the K of C where he was a past Grand Knight, Elks Lodge 51, Eagles aerie 397, and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary J. (Szempruch); 2 daughters and their spouses, Mary Jo and Adam Leventhal, Springfield and Tracy and Dane Lovejoy, Huntington Beach, CA; 4 grandchildren, Victoria, Patrick and Troy Nave and Jenna Leventhal; 6 sisters, Joanne (John) Juenger, Springfield, Charlene (Marty) Miller, Morrison, TN, Kathy Smitherman, Cottondale, AL, Regina (Pastor John) Pollock, Springfield, Bonne (Fred) Evans, Oxford, AL and Raeanne (Charles) Beck, Springfield; 4 brothers, William Schwartz, Springfield, Jerre (Vonnie) Spencer, Katy, TX, John Schwartz, Bradenton, FL and Rick (Amy) Schwartz, Virginia Beach, VA; stepmother, Helen Schwartz, Bradenton Beach, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Schwartz.

He was dearly loved by his brothers- and sisters-in-law and many, many friends whom he cherished.

Friends may call in the Conroy Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in St. Bernard Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Community Mercy Foundation.
