Phyllis J. Snyder


Phyllis J. Snyder, 85, of Springfield, passed away on March 12, 2008 at Eaglewood Care Center.

"Granny" as family and friends knew her, was born in Springfield on February 3, 1923.

Phyllis worked at various occupations but her greatest gift was the love she bestowed upon her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the light of her life. Nothing gave her more satisfaction than caring for children. At various times during her life she cared for the children and other families.

She is survived by her daughter Karen Moore and special friend Gail Miller, Springfield; son, Terry Snyder, Hampstead, North Carolina; granddaughters, Jessica (Douglas) Elliot, Rebecca (John Perry) Whitacre, Sara Snyder and grandson, Anthony Snyder; great grandchildren, Jacquelyn Woods, Ashley Shelton, Lauren and John Ethan Whitacre. She was preceded in death by her parents Jason and Olive Mae (Estep) Hinkle, her husband, Robert M. Snyder on February 12, 1989, son, Douglas C. Snyder on April 1, 2000, sister Gladys Uptegraph, brothers; George, Glen, Elber and Harold Hinkle.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her former neighbors, Jean and Joe Zischler, Dorothy Trempe and Hilda and John Hartman for the help they extended to her before her admittance to Eaglewood Senior Community. The staff and Dr. To at Eaglewood Care Center and Memory Lane are to be commended for their professional care and love that Phyllis received during her illness. They were a comfort to her and her family.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday in Conroy Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Rucker officiating. Visitation will be held two-hours prior to the service. Burial of ashes will take place in Enon Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association.
