Orville Stewart


Orville Stewart, 77, of Springfield passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, January 13, 2009 in his residence. He was born January 2, 1932 in Delbarton, West Virginia the son of John R. and Virgie (Baisden) Stewart.

He was retired from Champion Chemical Company where he was a member and former Steward of the Machinists Union. Orville enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Machinists Club and the Union Club.

Orville is survived by his children Karen (Jerry) McFarland and Chris Stewart, all of Springfield, Mark (Roseann) Stewart of South Solon, and David Stewart of Washington Court House; his grandchildren Jason Pace, Lacie (Craig) Strange, Jarrod Spurlock, Layne, Lucas, Trace and Jade Stewart; his great grandchildren Kayla, Kylie, Adryen, Jaden and Jamar; his brother Doss (Mary) Hall of Springfield and a sister Dana Lee Farmer of Dudley, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives H. Joanne (Ingles) Stewart and Edna (Bolender) Stewart; one son Timothy L. Stewart; brothers Homer, Johnny and Glen Stewart; sisters Emma Workman, Lemiel Stanley and Dalphene Evans.

Orville leaves to cherish his memory and good humor, his dear friends Don Mitchell, Charlie Potter, Dave DePriest, Steve Foster, Jim Litherland and many, many more friends who loved and adored him.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, January 19, 2009 from 12 noon-2 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 PM. in the Memorial Home with Rev. Kenneth Stidham officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made in Orville's name to the American Diabetes Association.
