Oliver Leroy Sanders, Sr.


Oliver Leroy Sanders, Sr., 75, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away Sunday, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He went home to be with The Lord, following a long battle with cancer. He was born in Lewis County, Kentucky, on May 15, 1932, the son of Albert and Martha (Beair) Sanders. He served in the US Army. He worked at Springfield Metallic Casket Company for 17 years.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Beatrice (Sis); children Candy (Marty) Lickliter, Donna Sanders, Ivy (Jimmy) Pennywitt, Deanne (Rob) Gibson, Oliver (Nancy) Sanders Jr., Karen (Roger) Bronstetter, Michael (Doreen) Sanders; grandchildren Robby Lickliter Sr., Jamie Sanders, DJ (Peter) Hill, KC Gibson, Jason (Meredith) Gibson, Trina Sanders, Tony, Becky Pennywitt, Ethan Gibson, Stephani Sanders, Michael Sanders II, Ashlyn Gibson, Oliver Sanders III, Dawnea, and Kiana Sanders; 10 great grandchildren, brothers Alvin (Yevonne), Donald (Brenda), Jimmy, and Wendell (Pat) Sanders; a sister Shirley Canode; several nieces and nephews; other special people Kenny, Brian, Rob, Adam, Hospice Staff Myra, Katie, Betty, and Chaplain Rick Clos.

He is preceded in death by hid parents, granddaughter April Lee Lickliter, and a son-in-law Teddy McCoy.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6pm to 8pm Tuesday in THE JONES KENNEY ZECHMAN Funeral Home. The funeral ceremony will be held at 2pm Wednesday in The Funeral Home, with pastor Kirk Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
