Margaret M. Slaughter


Margaret M. Slaughter, 73, of Springfield, passed away at 4:28 AM Thursday, April 2, 2009 in Community Hospital. She was born May 7, 1935 in Springfield, the daughter of James and Alice (Ray) Hallan.

Mrs. Slaughter was retied form the Springfield City Schools following 19 years of service.

Survivors include five children; Robin Dingman, Peru, Indiana, Sherry (Randy) Grewe, Daniel Slaughter, Laura (Tim) Gibson, Robert Slaughter all of Springfield, 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, two sisters; Vivian Willmeth and Elizabeth Weekley of Springfield, several nieces and nephews and special friend Sharon Clay of Springfield.

She was preceded in death by a daughter; Brenda Horton, three sisters; Mary Potts, Louise Rhinehart and Carolyn Kiger, one brother; Daniel Hallan, her former husband; Robert Slaughter and her parents.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday in the funeral home with Rev. Ben Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Enon Cemetery.
