John O. Scaggs


John O. Scaggs, 69, of Springfield, died unexpectedly at 3:35 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2009, in Mt. Carmel West Hospital, Columbus. He was born in South Charleston on April 27, 1939, the son of Julia and Earl Scaggs.

He retired from Navistar in 2000 and was currently working for Montgomery Security, Washington Court House as a part-time security officer. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed riding his bike and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Karen J. (Coleman); children and spouses, John P. (Patty) Scaggs of Columbus, Deborah Campbell of West Virginia, David (Dawn) Scaggs of Springfield, Kristoffer (Nicky) Scaggs of Middle Point, Ohio, Barbara (John) Needles of Kettering and Amber (Randall) LeGros of Dayton; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Borghese of Columbus and Connie (Lester) Hunter of Indiana; two brothers and sister-in-law, Garland Skaggs of Florida and Ronnie (Margaret) Scaggs of Pitchin and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Scaggs.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME. His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Deacon Norm Horstman officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.
