Helen Anderson Savage

Helen Anderson Savage, 102, of Springfield, formerly of Willow Branch, Indiana passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 18, 2007 in the Forest Glen Health Campus.

She was born on November 1, 1905 in Danville, Illinois. Helen celebrated her 100th birthday with family and many loving friends and stated that her longevity was due to her caring family and her love of other people.

She spent 30 years living in Willow Branch, Indiana where she belonged to the United Methodist Church. Helen crossed the country by train several times as a girl, moving from Illinois to San Francisco and then to Pennsylvania where she graduated from high school.

She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter and son in law Barbara and Myron Wells of Springfield; three sons and daughters in law, James and Mary Savage of Englewood, John and Carolyn Savage of Cincinnati, and Joseph and Mary Savage of Ft Myers, Florida; two grandsons, Mark Wells and Chris and Lisa Wells; two granddaughters Kathy and David Krok and Sue Gibboney; four great-grandchildren Jocelyn and Lucas Wells, David and Kasey Krok. Also, a wonderful caring friend Judy Wood, Springfield, Ina Cain, Anna Gilliland, and the members of Willow Branch United Methodist Church were her Indiana family.

A special thank you to Dr. To, Dr. Win, and the many, many care supporters at Forest Glen Health Campus and the Eaglewood Care Center. Helen was a great inspiration for many people; she always had a smile on her face and a pleasant word for everyone.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Savage; infant son; and a sister Ruth Emigh.

Services will be held on Friday, November 23, 2007 at 10:30AM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to services.
