Earl P. Strome


Earl P. Strome, 95, of New Carlisle Ohio passed away October 2nd,2008.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fannie and Harry Strome, his wife, Loretta ( Ferryman) Strome, a daughter Jane Balmer, a sister Clara Tuvell, and a brother Arthur Strome.

He is survived by a sister Treva Metzger, a brother Joe Strome. Also survived by two daughters and sons-in-laws, Mary Lou and Dick Miller of Vandalia Ohio, Peggy and Tom Mellett of Macomb, Michigan. He had 8 grandchildren, Kim (Scott) Griffith, Pam (Mike) Trick, Dana (Eric) Cluxton, Terry (Gary) Walker, Jim (Sandie) Balmer, Dan (Rhonda) Balmer, Tom Mellett and Kathleen Piotrowski, 19 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.

He was a lifelong loving and loyal member of The Missionary Church in New Carlisle. He was a barber by trade for 69 years. He and his father Harry owned and operated Stromes Barber Shop in New Carlisle since 1940. After his fathers death he remained owner and operator until semi retiring in 1997 at the age of 84. He was still cutting hair for a few loyal customers until the time of his death. When he could no longer drive his car he was a familiar sight driving his beloved John Deere tractor to mow lawns at his church and Lee's Famous Recipe where he ate lunch with his granddaughter and her husband. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and true Christian friend to anyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

A gathering of family and friends will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2008 at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2008 at The Missionary Church in New Carlisle, Ohio. Burial following service at the New Carlisle Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420 and or a charity of your choice.
