Donald E. Stultz
Donald E. Stultz, (Master Sergeant, Retired), 75, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2009, after a courageous battle with melanoma and cancer lasting over eleven years.
He was born on November 30, 1933 in Springfield, Ohio the son of Floyd and Hazel (Frost) Stultz.
He served our country in the United States Army for twenty-one years which included one tour in Korea (awarded the Purple Heart in 1953), two tours in Vietnam (awarded the Bronze Star in 1970) and Germany while in the Special Forces (Green Berets). After his distinguished military career he went to work for Sears, Roebuck Company.
Donald is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Hilary (Westwood) Stultz who was the love of his life, son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Nina Stultz of Louisville, Kentucky; daughter and her fiancée, Jackie Robinson and Larry McDaniel of Springfield; and beloved grandchildren: Elizabeth and Andrew Stultz, and Morgan and Kyle Robinson, a sister, Ilean Trenholme of British Columbia, Canada, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and eleven brothers and sisters.
Don was a member of the Northridge United Methodist Church and enjoyed square dancing, playing golf, cards, and bicycling. He became friends with so many people in Ohio and Florida (where they wintered) who were such a joy in his life. Hilary and Don liked to travel and camp. Most of all Don loved having his family around him. He will be missed by so many people.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2009 from 4-7 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY.
A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Northridge United Methodist Church, 4610 Derr Rd., Springfield, with Pastor Ken Woode officiating.
