Carrie Smith


Carrie Smith, 81, of Springfield, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 in her residence.

She was born on May 26, 1926 in Verda, Kentucky the daughter of Beckham and Eula (Gilbert) Middleton.

Carrie was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved to spend time with her family.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: William M. and Annett Smith and Preston and Vicky L. Smith; four daughters and three sons-in-law: Euna and Donny Stevens, Sharry Long, Teresa and Marvin Massie, and Tammy and Charles Williamson all of Springfield; nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, two sisters and a brother-in-law: Linda and Charles Clark of Harlan, Kentucky, and Pat Bruner of Colburn, Virginia; two brothers, Harvey Middleton of Colburn, Virginia, and Robert Middleton of Harlan, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of forty-nine years, William T. Smith in 1999, three brothers and two sisters.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, January 18, 2008 from 5-8 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am with Chaplain Rick Clos officiating. Burial will be in the Garlough Cemetery, Pitchin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Regional Cancer Center.
