Charles C. Shaffer


Charles C. "Chuck" Shaffer, 68, of Springfield, died Friday, January 9, 2009, in his residence. He was born in Pontiac, Michigan on May 4, 1940, the son of Kenneth H. and Edith H. (Trout) Shaffer.

He retired from Navistar after more than 35 years of service. He was an avid supporter of the Animal Welfare League, enjoyed reading, fishing, Nascar, working in his yard and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include two sons and spouses, Kenny and Julie Shaffer and Bobby and Carmen Shaffer all of Springfield; daughter, Darla Baker of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Ashley and Jami and two grandsons, Jeffery and William.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rick Clos officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
