Cody A. Schliep


Cody A. Schliep, 12, of Springfield died at 5:08 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2008 in Children's Medical Center, Dayton, OH.

He was born in Springfield on February 23, 1996 the son of Thomas J. Schliep Jr. of Springfield and Jennifer (Gorton) Schliep of Springfield. He was a seventh grade student at Roosevelt Middle School.

Cody loved to play baseball, playing on several teams at NAAA Park on Shrine Rd. He also enjoyed watching and helping his dad who coached other teams at the park.

Survivors in addition to his parents include a brother, Caleb Z. Schliep; sister, Kimberly L. Schliep; paternal grandparents, Tom and Vera Schliep; maternal grandfather, Richard Gorton, all of Springfield; paternal great grandmother, Wilma Blankenship, South Charleston, OH; maternal great grandparents, Elmer and Betty Pennington, Springfield; several aunts and uncles including, Debra and Duke Rutherford, Joyce and Chad Fisher, Richard and Frances Gorton all of Springfield and Kim and Jim Jenkins, Marysville, OH and several cousins. Special friends including Tammy Everhart, Alysha Everhart and Tori Everhart all of Springfield.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Linda Gorton in 2006 and by great grandparents, John Blankenship, Robert Schliep and Dorothy Whaley.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday in the Conroy Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Thompson officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
