Benjamin Lawton Strawsburg
Benjamin Lawton Strawsburg, 94 of Springfield, passed away on Monday morning, January 14, 2008 in the Eaglewood Care Center.
He was born on July 25, 1913 in Springfield the son of the late Benjamin and Marguerite (Lawton) Strawsburg.
He served our country in the United States Army during World War II. Lawton worked for the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services for over forty-three years and was Chief of the Benefits Department when he retired. He was an active member of the Plattsburg United Church of Christ and more recently Northminster Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife of seventy-one years, Winifred (Downey) Strawsburg, two daughters and sons-in-law: Constance and Ralph Little of West Jefferson and Sharon (Gardunia) and Richard Jenkins of Springfield; one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Barbara Strawsburg of Clarkston, Michigan; grandchildren and their spouses: Cathy and Tim Marx, Richard and Laurel Little, David and Jeri Ann Little, Shelley and Jeff Watters, Vince and Bambi Harmon, Shelby and Chadwick Adkison, Julie and Jeff Mays, and Scott and Stephanie Strawsburg, and sixteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by grandson Timothy Little in 1981.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2008 from 5-8 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, 830 N. Limestone St., Springfield, where services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am with the Reverend Dwight McCormick of the Northminster Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
