Thelma L. Rhoades


Thelma L. Rhoades, age 94 of Springfield, Ohio passed away peacefully on May 4, 2008. She was a resident of the Ohio Masonic Home.

Thelma was born on August 25, 1913 in Wellston, Ohio the daughter of the late Amos and Sarah Souders.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband Nelson J. Rhoades, six brothers and four sisters.

She was a resident of Springfield for over 70 years. Thelma graduated from Wellston High School in 1932 and came to Springfield to attend Business School. She worked at Crowell-Collier Publishing Company for several years. She married Nelson Rhoades on June 24, 1938; they were married for 67 years. Thelma was a life long member of Oakland Presbyterian Church, the Eastern Star Lodge, Norris Chapter 426 and Emery Club. She was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and belonged to the Reds Rooters Club for many years. Thelma loved to garden and dance; she was a friend to many.

She is survived by her daughters; Carol (Jim) Bross of Fort Mill, SC., and Jane Wiseman of Howard, OH., five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service to be held 11:00am Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the JACKSON LYTLE WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME 2425 N. Limestone, with Pastor Tom Martin officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Thelma's memory to the Oakland Presbyterian Church.
