Raymond Rust


Raymond (Ray) Rust, 88, of Springfield, passed away at 12:50 PM Monday, September 22, 2008, in Community Hospital. He was born October 16, 1919 in Clark County, the son of Charles and C. Marie (Jacobs) Rust.

Mr. Rust was a member of Rockway Lutheran Church, the FOE # 397, VFW #8673 and had worked at D & H and Bauer Brothers for 32 years before retiring in 1982. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the Pacific Islands of Southern Philippines, New Guinea, Bismark, Archipelago and China.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Overacker Clark Rust whom he married on February 4, 1949; three step daughters ("his girls") Peggy Clark Wright ( Loyd) of Lawrenceville, Ohio, Delores Clark Holub (Kenneth) of Springfield, Ohio Maryln Clark Sundberg of Phoenix, Arizona. He especially loved his grandchildren; Wanda Wright Parks, Joyce Wright Nunley, Deborah Wright Powell, Thomas Wright, David Wright, Amelia Justice Jeppe, Adeline Justice, Emily Justice West, Andrew Justice, Belinda Torsell, Teresa Torsell Brooks, A. Joseph Torsell. Dear to his heart were his great grandchildren; James, Rachel, Julie, Marc, Jennifer, Zachary, Jessica, Codi, Kyle, Nathan, Lainey, Jesse, Kelsey, Alec, Britney, Jesse, Cynnamon, Victoria, Amanda, Alysia, Taylor Anne. His great great grandchildren held a special place in his heart: Skyler, Alexis, Angel, Madilynn, Talya and Olivya.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Naomi Baldwin and brother in law Lowell Baldwin, niece Sylvia Baldwin, brother and sister in law Eldon and Thelma Rust, nephew and wife Eldon and Nancy Rust.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday in the funeral home with Dr. Wendell Hakala officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
