Richard H. Ruef
Richard H. "Dick" Ruef, 79, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2009 in his residence surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born on January 3, 1930 in Springfield the son of William H. and Faye Ruef.
Dick served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his military service he joined the Springfield Police Department where he retired after thirty-two years of faithful service. Dick also volunteered for many organizations throughout the community.
He is survived by his daughter Barbara Fain of Springfield; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Sheilah Ruef of Enon; five grandchildren: Tracy, D. J., Justen, Ashley, and Tristen; four great grandchildren: Bradley, Ryan, McKenzie, and Ty; sister-in-law, Avonelle Ruef of Montana; and his devoted best friend, Pat Day of Springfield.
He was preceded by his parents, his wife Rubye Ruef, sister, Donna Fillinger, brother, William Ruef, great grandson, Tyler Fain.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2009, in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.
Services will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the Rose Hill Burial Park Chapel.
