Melba O. Rockfield


Melba O. Rockfield, 93, formerly of Springfield, Ohio, passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, (Marilyn S. and Jay A. Morrison) in Worthington, Ohio, Saturday evening, April 7, 2007.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Laura (Athy) King of Clark County; five brothers; and five sisters; as well as her husband of 69 years, Harry L. "Rocky" Rockfield, who passed away April 22, 2003.

Melba graduated from the School of Practical Nursing of Dayton, as an L.P.N. and was employed at Mercy Medical Center where she served for fifteen years before retiring. She was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Jay; four nieces, Kathryn Richardson of Springfield, Ohio, Vera McDaniel of Atwater, California, Rose (Robert) Lewis of Columbus, Ohio and Fern Bauer of Springfield, Ohio; three nephews, Gary (Cindy) King of Bradenton, Florida, Tim (Jeanne) King of Clearwater, Florida and Kevin (Tonya) King of Urbana, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Beulah Barber of North Lewisburg, Ohio; and her beloved little dog, Molly.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where the service will be held Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with the Reverend Jay A. Morrison presiding.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Ferncliff Cemetery.
