Dan L. Rueger


Dan L. Rueger, 87 of Enon, died on January 20, 2008 after a ten year battle with Parkinson's.

He was born on November 23, 1920 in Dayton, Ohio the son of Walter and Edna (Anglemyer) Rueger.

Dan graduated from Enon High School and served seven years in the United States Navy before attending and graduating from the business school at The Ohio State University. Dan then worked in the accounting department at General Electric in Schenectady, New York. Returning to Springfield he worked with Joe Laihr and later with the CPA firm of Rueger, Shore, and Feltner, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Rocky Point Chapel, a Master mason, Anthony Lodge 455, the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Alumni Association of The Ohio State University. Dan enjoyed all sports but especially loved racquetball at the YMCA.

He is survived by his loving wife Maxine of sixty-four years, a daughter, Mary Beth Pilcher of Enon and a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Ginger Rueger of Charleston, South Carolina, granddaughter, Katie Kelley of Springfield, grandsons, Tony Smaldon of Chicago, Brian (Lori) and Brenton Rueger of Charleston, South Carolina, five great grandchildren: Gabe, Ben, Sophie, Alex, and Ryan, and several caring nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Virginia, and brother, Paul. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to special caregivers Lori and Martha and all the "angels" from Community Mercy Hospice.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2008 from 5-7 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where services will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm with Pastors Dan Sudlow and Rich Bloominstock officiating. Burial will be in the Ferncliff Cemetery.
