Albert Lawrence Raiteri


Albert Lawrence Raiteri, 70, of New Carlisle, Ohio, died May 20, 2012, after a courageous two-year battle with lung cancer. He was born August 23, 1941, in Memphis, TN.

He graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1959 and Christian Brothers College (University) in 1964.

Al was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Haynes Raiteri and his father, Frank Raiteri.

He moved to Beavercreek, OH, in 1979 and worked for Robbins & Myers until his retirement in 2004. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and served terms as trustee and treasurer of the Beaver Creek Wetlands Association. After retirement he volunteered as a docent at the Westcott House in Springfield and co-chaired the New Carlisle Heritage of Flight Festival Parade.

He is survived by his mother, Teresa Vescovi Raiteri of NC; his wife, Sally Kennedy Raiteri of New Carlisle; sons, Stephen of Beavercreek, Kenneth (Marianne) of Dayton, Matthew (Felice) of Reston, VA; daughter, Regina (Jim) Langman of Westerville; three grandchildren, Phineas, Gabrielle, and Drake and one sister, Carol (Mel) Bowman of Pinehurst, NC.

He loved cooking, gardening, traveling, old cars, trains and his devoted kitty, Lucy.

The following verse sums up his life best: 2 Timothy 4:7 -"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."

The family wishes to thank Dr. Burhan Yanes and his staff, the Fidelity Health Care and the Hospice of Dayton staffs for their kind attention and care.

A memorial sevice will be held Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 3 p.m. at the New Carlisle Church of the Brethren, 219 North Main St., New Carlisle, OH. A reception to celebrate his life will follow the service at his home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, OH 45420 or to the New Carlisle Church of the Brethren, 219 North Main Street, New Carlisle, OH 45344.
