Roger E. Queen


Roger E. Queen, age 88, passed away at the Good Shepherd Village Nursing Home, Saturday, April 4, 2009, after a brief stay. He was born in Edgar County, Illinois September 14, 1920 to the late William L. and Cora M.(Hall) Queen.

Roger was a United States Navy veteran of WWII, a longtime employee of Cooper Industries and a lifelong farmer. Roger was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is preceded in death by his first wife H. Lucille (Ratcliff) Queen and second wife Gene H. (Maclin) Queen, daughter Joyce L. Walls, sister Clara May Frederick and a brother Orin Queen.

Roger is survived by his children; Larry L. (Gloria) Queen, Beverly A. (Rick) Cox, Philip A. (Sue) Queen all of Springfield, stepson Douglas (Shelia) Maclin of Troy, OH., grandchildren; Tony Walls and Jon Walls, Alana Carpenter and Bill Queen, Mindy Dunn, Randy Cox, and Adam Cox, nine great-grandchildren; Dominique and David Walls, Hannah and Kenan Dunn, Cora Beth and Rebecca Carpenter, Ethan, Samantha, and Toby Cox, brother John S. Queen of Welston, OH, and sister Mary E. Meuleman of Springfield.

Family will receive friends from 5 to 8pm Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the JACKSON LYTLE WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME 2425 N. Limestone St. Graveside service to be held 10:30am Wednesday at the Oakdale Cemetery chapel, Urbana,OH., with Jeff Dunn and Pastor Mike Criner officiating. Funeral procession will form 10:00am Wednesday, at the funeral home.
