Martin H. "Marty" Oren

The one and only, Martin "Marty" Oren, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Wednesday evening at the young age of 47. He was born 28 Aug 1960, a graduate of Shawnee High School in 1978.

Marty was employed by Brehob Crane and Hoist where his special talent as a salesman (he really could sell ice to an Eskimo), were respected by his coworkers who were also his friends.

His children were his heart and soul, and their accomplishments were his greatest sense of pride. If you would have asked him about Justin or Ashley he would have rattled off their latest stats, or his youngest Kimmie and you would see his face would light up. His involvement in their athletics began at their young age. You would always see Marty either sitting on a bench as their coach or on the sidelines shouting out instructions. He supported their teams at Emmanuel Christian Academy and had a special bond with all their teammates and their parents.

God gave Marty a gift to touch the lives of the young, with a unique style that made them feel bigger than life. He will be sadly missed by his nephews and nieces who couldn't wait for Uncle Marty to come.

Marty's other passion was golf, and if the weather was right you would find him on a course somewhere. He enjoyed the competitiveness, and the friends he shared the game with.

He is survived by his mother Barbara Parker; his father, Gerald (Dee) Oren; on son, Justin; two daughters, Ashley and Kimberly; four sisters, Judy (Jim) Pelfrey, Terry (Dave) Weimer, Tonya Mahar and Valerie (Jim) Haley; one brother James (Anita ) Oren, numerous nephews and nieces. In addition, his special friend Kim Pitstick, her children Mia, Huey and Evan. He is preceded in death by his dad, James (Podgie) Parker.

To all those he touched his presence no longer with us, his spirit will remain in our hearts forever.

Family will receive friends 12:00 noon until time of service at 2:00 pm Saturday February 2, 2008 in the JACKSON LYTLE & WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, Springfield.

In lieu of flowers you can make contributions to the Springfield Emmanuel Christian Academy Athletics Department, 2177 Emmanuel Way Springfield, OH 45502.
