Freda Jane Nelson


Freda Jane Nelson, 93, passed away in the Eaglewood Care Center Saturday evening, December 29, 2007. Freda was born November 29, 1914 in Mineral Wells, West Virginia., a daughter of Isaac and Barbara (Deem) Byers. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Springfield.

Survivors include her two children and spouses, Deloris and John Woodburn and Bill and Jo Anne Nelson, all of Springfield; grandchildren, John (Amy) Woodburn of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, Cathy (Bob) Dudley of Hanover, Pennsylvania, Scott Nelson of Columbus, Ohio, and Beth Nelson of Arlington, Virginia; and great-grandsons, Wyat and Cody Woodburn of Mechanicsburg, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William R. Nelson, her parents and four sisters and one brother.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME and one hour prior to the funeral service. The Rev. Dr. Kenneth Whitt, pastor of First Baptist will officiate at the service to be held at First Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Nelson, Scott Nelson, John H. Woodburn, John W. Woodburn, Bob Dudley and Dick Rice.
