Samuel E. Maynard


Samuel E. Maynard, 87, of Springfield, passed away on August 2, 2008 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center - High St. Campus.

He was born on January 27, 1921 in Adams County, Ohio the son of George and Virginia (Neu) Maynard.

Sam served our country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 397 Aerie.

Sam is survived by his wife Alice (Chapman) Maynard of sixty-three years, six daughters and sons-in-law: Louella and Tom Baldwin, Ruth and Frank Brown, Janet and Marty Finfrock, Gloria and Wayne Reynolds all of Springfield; Karen and Michael Andrews of Texas and Stephanie and Jeff Matheson of Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Sam Jr. and Joanne Maynard of Hillsboro; special nephew, David Colwell his wife Reneé of Texas; twenty grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, one brother, two grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, August 4, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. Entombment will be in the Rose Hill Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate, P.O. BOX 634445, Cincinnati, OH 45263-4445.
