Samuel Haskel Markman


Samuel "Sam" Haskel Markman, 60 of Vermilion, died Thursday, March 27, 2008 after an automobile accident. He was born October 3, 1947 in New York City, New York the son of Harold Markman and Verna (Walters) Micheller.

He attended Vermilion High School and graduated from Lorain Community College with a degree in Computer Aided Design. Sam served our country in the United States Navy. In 1991 he opened and started operating Markman CAD, a drafting and engineering print company. He had previously worked for RE Warner and Associates, Westlake.

Sam accepted Christ in 1979 at First Baptist Church in Vermilion and re-committed his life to Christ in 2003 at Family Fellowship Foursquare Church, Amherst, where he was a member. He has been a member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1991 and the American Legion Post 397, Vermilion. He enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing, riding motorcycles, traveling, and spending time with his granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Smarr) Markman of Wakeman; his mother, one son and daughter-in-law, John and Sarah Markman of Springfield; daughter, Jane Frisch of Sandusky; granddaughters: Gabrielle , Natalie, Hannah, and Esther; step-sons, Ryan Parker of Parma Heights and Skyler Parker of Elyria; brother, Kevin McMullen of Vermilion; one sister and brother-in-law, Candy and Roger Kuebel of Massachusetts, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in 2006.

Friends may call Sunday, March 30, 2008 from 3 to 7 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home 5345 South St. Vermilion where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at 3:00pm. Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 31, 2008 at 10 am with the Rev. Bill Mouer, pastor of Family Fellowship Foursquare Church, Amherst, officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family Fellowship Foursquare Church PO Box 146 Amherst, OH 44001.
