Glenn E. McFarland


Glenn E. McFarland, 86, of Springfield, passed away at 9:45 PM Saturday, February 23, 2008 in Mercy Medical Center.

He was born July 25, 1921 in Rosedale, Ohio the son of Edward J. and Louisa (Hensley) McFarland and had resided in Springfield since 1945.

Glenn was a Veteran of the United States Army during World War II serving with the 405 Battalion. He had been employed at Crowell Collier, Murray Black, Beekman Brothers Auto and Community Hospital retiring in 1988.

Survivors include his wife Helen M. (Gibson) McFarland, one son and daughter in law; Dwayne and Bonnie Holleron, Urbana, one daughter and son in law; Caryl and Jerry Jackson, Springfield, nine grandchildren; Aric (Nikki) Van Hoose, Angela Newman, Anthony Houston, Jayson Jackson, Jeremy Jackson, Justyn (April) Jackson, Mindy Holleron, Morgan Holleron and Ashley Holleron, six great grandchildren; Heather Newman, Katelynn Jackson, Jaycie Jackson, Ryan Jackson, Michaela Houston, Camden Houston and Jordan Lookabaugh and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Linda Houston, three brothers Carl, Wilbur and Cletus and a sister Dorothy.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rick Clos officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 12 Noon until the time of the services. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.
