William A. Lethcoe


William A. Lethcoe, 73, of Springfield, died at 1 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2008 in his residence.

He was born October 5, 1935 in Springfield, the son of Joseph and Kate E. (Lockhart) Lethcoe. He graduated from Northeastern High School class of 1953. Bill was formerly employed at Ohio Thermometer and later medically retired from Elliott Company after an accident in the home that left him blind. He was Past President of the Clark County Council of the Blind and was also Past President of Fraternal Order of Eagles #397.

He married Carolyn (Brewer) and had one son William Lethcoe II, Troy, Alabama, who survives him. He later married Betty Joan (Wilson) and had five children who also survive him, Sharon Kay Paul, Springfield, Deanna Lee Cimmino and Joseph Powers, Winton, California, John Allen Lethcoe, Springfield, Julie Ann and Jim Miller, Springfield and Commander Bryan Jeffrey Lethcoe USN and Dr. Mary Rocha, Houston, Texas. He is also survived by a brother and two sister-in-laws, Janet Lethcoe, Springfield and Richard "Ike" and Marie Lethcoe, Ponce Inlet, Florida; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his second wife Betty in 2002 and his brother John Joseph Lethcoe.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the Conroy Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor John Pollock officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Clark County Council of the Blind.
