Ruth A. Leffel


Ruth A. Leffel, 101, of Springfield passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008 in the Oakwood Village.

She was born November 11, 1906 in Springfield, the daughter of Elmer and Arminta (Mumma) Leffel.

Ruth was a graduate of Wittenberg University and Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Miss Leffel was a school teacher and principal for the Springfield City Schools and retired with over 40 years of service. She was a member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday School and helped with Vacation Bible School.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Betty Leffel of Cincinnati, Ohio; one niece and spouse, Pamela and Philip Merz of West Chester, Ohio and one grand niece, Dr. Meredith Merz of San Diego, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two bothers, Elmer and Elwood Leffel.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 from 10-11 a.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Ferncliff Cemetery.
