Leona Ruth Lindsay


Leona Ruth Lindsay, 91, of Springfield died Tuesday, November 4, 2008 in the Ohio Masonic Home.She was born September 15, 1917 in London, Ohio the daughter of Robert and Effie (Evans) Morgan.

Mrs. Lindsay was employed by Robbins & Myers during WWII and helped to build the Norton Bombsight. She retired as the Manager of the Lawson's Store on Burnett Road after many years. Leona was an active member of Fifth Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was involved in the Prayer Chain and the Hospitality Circle, and belonged to the Red Star Temple #397, Pythian Sisters.

She is survived three daughters and sons-in-law Roberta and Donald Fawley of Rockledge, Florida, Carol and Charles Weller, Cynthia and Bruce Kouse; one son and daughter-in-law Edwin and Marilyn Lindsay; a son-in-law David Huey, all of Springfield; ten grandchildren Janice (Donald) Wood, Joyce (John) Puckett, Deann (Glenn) Fuller, Douglas Fawley, Charles (Dawn) Weller, Christopher (Kimberly) Weller, Christine (Joe) Bailey, Jason (Michelle) Kouse, Brian Kouse and Kimberly (Gary) Stroede; fifteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles H. Lindsay in 1972; two daughters Rosalind Lindsay and Helen Huey; a son John Lindsay; three sisters Sara Hale, Alice and Dorothy Everhart; six brothers Ralph, Robert, Thurman "Jack", James, John and Leo Morgan; and a grandson John Weller.

Friends may call Friday from 6-8 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Red Star Temple will hold services Friday at 8:00 PM. in the Memorial Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM. in Fifth Evangelical Lutheran Church with The Rev. Carol Gesalman officiating.

Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
