Jerry Russell Lendingham


Jerry Russell Lendingham 63, of Portsmouth, Ohio (formerly of Springfield) died Monday, November 5, 2007 in California following a short battle with cancer.

He was born November 15, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland the son of John Allen and Ethel Irene (Lawson) Ledingham and lived most of his life in Springfield.

Jerry was a graduate of Springfield North High School, earned his Bachelor's Degree from Urbana University and served in the United States Navy. Jerry had a thirty year career in the Nursing Home Industry, moving to Portsmouth in the 1990's. He served as Past Exalted Ruler of Portsmouth Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, #154.

He is survived by his mother, of Portsmouth; one son and daughter-in-law Jerry Todd and Misty Ledingham and their twins Max Russell and Kylie Jo, of San Francisco, California; one daughter Erin Renee Ledingham of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers John and Pegge Ledingham of Columbus, Ohio, and Steve Ledingham of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister-in-law Sally Ledingham of Springfield; former wife and mother of his children Janice Ledingham Barnes of Springfield; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother Mike Ledingham.

The primary gathering for Mr. Ledingham will be an Open House at the Elks City Club near Fourth St. and Court St. in Portsmouth on Sunday, November 18, 2007 from 1:30-2 PM. with a Memorial Service to follow. There will be a simultaneous Open Walk-in from 1-2 PM. at First Presbyterian Church, 221 Court St., Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM. Tuesday, November 20, 2007 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Springfield. The family is being served by RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME.
