Elder F. "Frank" Loney


Elder F. "Frank" Loney, 86, of Springfield died at 4:50 a.m. Sunday, November 25, 2007 in Mercy Medical Center.

He was born in Springfield on October 18, 1921 the oldest son of William F. and Della E. (Boolman) Loney.

He grew up is Springfield and graduated from Springfield High School in 1940. Frank served in the United States Army from 1942-1945 in the 313th Troop Carrier Group and the 49th Troop Carrier Squadron. He was an aerial engineer and aircrew member. He fought campaigns in Normandy, France and Central Europe and was Crew Chief that flew Bob Hope to an USO Show. After serving in the war, Frank was the owner and operator of Loney's Market for 23 years, which was located on the corner of Rt. 4 and Villa Road. Frank served as Moorefield Township Trustee for 16 years and as a Special Deputy for the Clark County Sheriffs Department for many years.

Survivors include three children and spouses; Loretta A. and Fred Mattice, Twin Falls, Idaho, Chris F. and Edie Loney, New Carlisle, Ohio, Rita A. and Ken Reeder, Enon; ten grandchildren and spouses, Tammy (Nick) Gutierrez, Michael (Jeana) Freeland, Candy (Carl) Gilliam, Spring (Larry) Pilson, Chad Cadwell, Angela (Derek) Graham, Bradley (Amanda) Slaven, Krissy (Paul) Hedrick, Rachel and Kevin Loney; twelve great grandchildren, Garrett and Chanler Gutierrez, Jacob Freeland, Olivia, Grant, Ethan and Abram Gilliam, Shane and Sarah Cadwell, Zack, Courtney and Karli Graham.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Dolly in 1972, his second wife Bessie "Betty" in 2000, daughter, Theresa Cadwell in 2005, one great grandson, Caden Pilson in 2005 and three brothers, Richard, Homer and Eugene Loney.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday in the Conroy Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Moorefield Township Paramedics.
