Lucille Krumholtz

Lucille "Lucy" Krumholtz, 93, Springfield resident passed away January 23, 2009 at Oakwood Village. Lucy was a resident of Clark Memorial since moving from her brother's (Dr. Frank Krumholtz) in 2007.

Lucille shared her brother's home for 15 years and enjoyed continuing the cooking and yard work that she was known for at the Krumholtz family residence (1810 N. Limestone) and during her over 20 years as the housekeeper for Fr. Daniel Collins (St. Teresa). Lucille was born in Springfield on June 24, 1915 to James and Nellie (McBreen) Krumholtz.

Her brothers Art, George, Frank and Joe, and sisters Kay Krumholtz and Helen Valiquette preceded her in death.

She is survived by her sister Audrey Hamilton.

Lucy was beloved across the generations of her family for her quick wit, good cooking, and intense interest in the lives of those she loved.

In addition to her sister she is survived by 7 nephews, 5 nieces, and a host of grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Lucille was an active member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church for over 50 years; a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia, supporter of St. Vincent DePaul, and a member of Our Lady of Fatima Rosary Makers club. Prior to her declining health Lucy was a well known member of the VFW. A lovable extrovert Lucy was known to don a funny hat, tell great stories and send friends into fits of hysterical laughter. She celebrated her 90th birthday there with a surprise party amongst a group of dear friends too numerous to mention.

Visitation with family and friends will be held at CONROY FUNERAL HOME from 5:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m on Monday, January 26, 2009 and from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2009. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. at St. Teresa's Catholic Church. Interment immediately following at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul or Shepards of Christ, P.O. Box 627, China, Indiana 47250.
