George Richard Keating


George Richard Keating, 78, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009 in Springfield Regional Medical Center, High Street Campus. George was born March 1, 1931 in New Carlisle, Ohio, to George L. and Maude (Evans) Keating.

He was retired from Construction and was a Veteran of the Army, Army Air Corp and a U S Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

On March 21, 1953, he married Shirley Ann Shinn who survives. George and Shirley had six children; Rebecca Sue Shupping, Jacksonville, Fl., George Richard Andrew Keating ( deceased), Cynthia Kay ( Daniel ) Hudson, Mechanicsburg, Candice Marie Jones ( deceased), Jo Anna ( Alex) Tatar, Dayton and Karen Jane ( David ) Phelan, Springfield. He had seven grandchildren; Angela (John) Dyhrberg, St. Petersburg, Fl., Christina Davis, Orange Park, Fl. Regena Eskew, Springfield, Trishia Long, Jacksonville, Fl. Andrea Rupert, Springfield, James Rupert, Largo , Fl. And Staff Sgt. Samuel J. Spellman Jr., US Air Force stationed in Turkey; seven great grandchildren; Alexandria, Brandon, Preston, Jake, Savannah, Donald and Nicholas; step grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Larry ( Glenna) Keating, two sisters; Irene Baker and Gayle Shackelford al of Springfield ,two sisters-in-law; Catherine ( Dennis ) De Connick, Westminster, Ca. and Beverly (Ron) Evans, Springfield, numerous nieces and nephews plus his Trinity Family.

George was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law; Steve Shupping, five brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 22, 2009 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 23, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1612 S. Belmont Avenue, Springfield Ohio, with Pastor Roger Herrig officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's memory to Trinity Lutheran Church.
