Nancy V. Johnson


Nancy V. Johnson, 82, of Springfield, died Thursday evening, April 10, 2008 in the Ohio Masonic Home following a brief illness. She was born in Richmond, Virginia on August 20, 1925 the daughter of the late Arthur L. and Mamie C. (Mathews) Cruser.

Nancy received her Bachelor's of Science in Business from Miami University. She taught at both St. Mary School, Springfield and Ridgewood School for many years.

She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church where she served on the Altar Guild and assisted with the Interfaith Hospitality Network. Nancy was a member of the Springfield Country Club, a charter member of Northwood Hills Country Club, Chi Omega Sorority where she served as a house advisor at Wittenberg University, Miami University Parents Advisory Board, Junior Service League, Young Women's Mission, and was a volunteer at the Springfield Museum of Art. Nancy and her husband, Jim were long-time supporters of the Springfield YMCA Swim Team. Jim, her husband of 51 years, preceded her in death in 1999.

She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, James R. III and Cindy Johnson of Cape Coral, Florida, David D. and Kathy Johnson of Springfield, and Michael P. and Melissa Johnson of Grand Rapids, Michigan; seven grandchildren, J.J., Jason, Matthew, Andy, Katie, Luc, and Jamie; and many dear friends.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the nurses and staff of the Ohio Masonic Home, Heartland Hospice and Comfort Keepers for the devoted care given to Nancy.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in Christ Episcopal Church with Rev. Charlotte Reed officiating.
