Mary Elizabeth Jordan


Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Jordan, 101, of Springfield, died at 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2008 in her son's home.

She was born in Springfield on January 31, 1907 the daughter of John W. and Mary A. (Bishop) Sutton.

Her first job was at Crowell-Collier and she later worked as an accounting technician for 25 years at Wright Patterson Air Force base before retiring in 1975. She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, St. John's Business and Professional Women, American Business Women, Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary and Madonna of the Trail Grandmother's Club. She was a 1925 graduate of Springfield High School and was a charter member of Omega Pi Kappa sorority, which she started during high school.

Survivors include her two children and spouse, Louise Funderburgh of Woodstock and William and Tanya Jordan of St. Paris; sister-in-law, Alice Mentges of Sidney, Ohio; five grandchildren and spouses, Mike and Kathy Funderburgh of North Lewisburg, Ed and Terri Funderburgh of Woodstock, Vickie and John Moore of Johnstown, Cindi and Dean Kite of St. Paris and Linda and Bill Ballinger of North Lewisburg; 12 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1999, grandson, Donald Funderburgh, son-in- law, Roger Funderburgh, granddaughter-in-law, Sandy (Bair) Funderburgh and three brothers.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday in Conroy Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Fr. Vincent Ojok officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
